Consulting with construction management planning experts during the early planning stages can save you money throughout the life of your project, and may prevent costly problems during construction.

Construction management planning services may include:

  • Scope definition—we make sure that the scope of the project is well defined before moving ahead with plans
  • Design team selection—based on experience, we can assist in selecting the most qualified design team to develop project plans and specifications
  • Construction site evaluation—we can help analyze and select the optimal site for your facilities
  • Budget and cost estimating—we outline the initial budget based on early planning. Read more »
  • Constructability review and feasibility study—we conduct a full analysis to ensure that your project can be successful
  • Value engineering—a multidisciplined team reviews project features to ensure that necessary functions are provided in the most cost-effective way, in both initial and life-cycle costs
  • Contract bidding—pre-selection of contractors and development of the bid package ensures that the contractor selection process is fair and provides the best value
  • Project delivery systems

Construction Management Reviews

Properly executed services such as feasibility and constructability reviews and preliminary scheduling can result in significant risk reduction and cost savings many times their initial cost in terms of limiting change orders, delays, and contractor claims. We offer a great value in a professional advisory role throughout the design and construction process, because we work independently of the construction contracting.

CONSTRUCTABILITY REVIEWS

Constructability reviews are a key to trouble-free projects. We approach the constructability review as a structured analysis of the plans and specifications. The focus is on the buildability, bidability, and efficiency of construction. Our constructability reviews may find problems in the following areas: suitability of work sequence, breadth and completion of construction documents, coordination of the documents among the various engineering disciplines, adequacy of lead time for material and equipment procurement, site restrictions, and sufficiency of access. We have found that significant cost savings and reductions in change order rates can be accomplished through properly conducted constructability reviews.

All project feasibility studies and constructability reviews focus on improving:

  • Consistency, clarity, and completeness of the construction drawings and specifications
  • Consistency, applicability, enforceability, and comprehensiveness of the general condition ("front end" documents)
  • Applicability of construction installation technology, methodology, or materials
  • Consistency between plans and site conditions
  • Identification of project-specific issues, their probable consequences, and proposed mitigation recommendation
